"Does knowing you are going to die bring meaning to your life?"
Yes, If we know that we are about to die we may change our outlook on life and start to strive to live each day to it's fullest. When you are faced with knowing you are about to die you realize what is most important in your life. We also understand what our priories in life are. The book says "in this way our willingness to come to terms with death teaches us how to live." I totally agree with this, because when you find out your are going to die, you realize what you have been living for and what you will continue to life for.
The ability to know we are dying makes our every act and moment count. Rather than living in fear we view life as an opportunity.
One thing that i learned is that terminally ill people are faces with death right away. The pressure of time forces them to choose how they will spend their remaining days.

de-Stress
There are many different things that i do to release stress. One of the first things i do if i am stressed out is i go work out. Running helps me deal with some of the stresses that i have. When i feel that i am starting to get really stressed out, i grab my ipod and go running. When i am running i feel like nothing can touch me and that is a great feeling.
Music also helps me release stress. I love listening to music and when i am stressed out it can put me in a better mood and help me cope with stress. Reading can also help me deal with stress. Getting into a book helps me release my stress and i feel better after i read.
I find that it is hard for me to say "no" to things that i don't have time for. I fill up my schedule so much that i never have anytime for myself. Everyone needs to have some time for themselves and i found that if you say yes every time that people ask you to do something, you will never have time to relax.

Relationships
My roommates and I get a long pretty well, but there are times where I feel like I should open up to them more and tell them about the problems that I am going through. Sometimes I feel like I don't need to talk to my roommates because I can just figure things out myself, which does not work for me. I am defiantly a people person and so by talking to them it helps me understand and get through some problems. Some problems are more serious than others, and I feel that I don't tell my roommates my small problems because I don't think they are a big deal. I have recently experienced that by not telling them and getting help with small problems the problem can then turn out to be an actual big problems. I need to start opening up and listen to my roommates advise because I think they know me very well and they know what is best for me in certain situations. A goal that i have set for myself is to open up to them more by telling the girls when i feel like i am having a problem. The next time all of us roommates will be together will be sunday, so i will let them know what is going on with my life and how i need advise.
Eating Disorders
Being brought up in a big town exposes you to many different things. I have been exposed to eating disorders at a young age. I remember in middle school people were having troubles with eating disorders and it just blew my mind because we are way to young to be having a disorder as terrible as this. I believe the media has a big impact on our society and how we want to look like all the models on television. It is very sad that we physically and mentally make ourselves sick just to be skinny.
As a future counselor, i believe one way to increase awareness is to have commercials about the dangers of eating disorders. I think who they choose to speak during the commercials would also have a big impact. Say for example we get a famous girl to speak about the dangers that can happen, then more people will become aware of what is happening and start to change for the better.
The steps i would take to ensure that i am setting a good example is to eat right and exercise daily. You can feel good about yourself with putting your body in danger. My eating right and exercising you can lose wait but be doing it in a healthy and positive way, and the results are more rewarding. I believe that you can look good, if you feel good on the inside. Another way to ensure this goal is to always have a positive outlook on things. If i show others how positive i feel then others will hopefully want to feel positive about themselves.
If i was struggling with this problem the first person(s) i would talk to would be my roommates and friends. They eat with me all the time and so they would know if someone was wrong with me or the way i was doing things was changing. My friends are a positive reinforcement in my life and being around positive people makes me want to be more positive. After consulting with my friends I would talk with my parents and then go get help. The counseling center here at wayne can really help anyone who has a problem, but the first step is admitting you have a problem and wating to get help.

Growth...
Well...the places that i wanted to improve were, being dependent and self motivated. Since my surgery it is very hard to be dependent on myself because I could not do anything by myself. I have been able to do more things by myself, but there are still a lot of things that i need help doing. I also had to quit my job when i found out that i had to have surgery so the whole trying to be dependent on only myself is not working out to well. Hopefully once i start getting better i will be able to have a job and be more dependent.
As for being self motivated i have improved a lot. I have to do rehab everyday and it takes a lot out of me. The first 2 weeks of rehab are very important. I have to get my full range of motion back, because if i don't then my knee will never be the same. I have to tell myself that i CAN do the exercises no matter how bad it hurts. I have to be self motivated because this injury put me out the sport i love to play, so that makes me more motivated to get back to playing my sport.

Quote
Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.
I really agree with this quote because if you waste your whole life trying to be someone else then you will never know you you are truly are. Every person in life is supposed to be different and if you try and be someone you aren't then you are wasting what god has created for you. There are too many people in life that try and be like other people just to fit in. Sometimes you can try and change your self so many times that you will never remember who you used to be or what you stand for.
I also thing that if you are trying to be someone else.. your not necessary wasting the person you are, but you are striving to be more like them to improve who you are.

My Week
My week has been stressful to say the least. I had 2 test that i had to study for, I missed all of my Tuesday classes because I was at the doctor, and to top it all off I found out that I tore my ACL, and I will be out for at least 6 months, so it was not a great way to start off my week. I will be getting surgery in the next 2 weeks and so I am working hard to try and get ahead in my classes so I wont feel behind.
My weekend was actually really good. I got to go home for the first time since the end of July, because my coach did not want me to go on the road trip and be on the bus for 11 hours. So I went home on thursday and got to see my family. I was so glad i got the opportunity to see them because I have to get surgery in Souix city and not lincoln and my mom is the only one who can get off work. My dad will try and come up on the weekend if he isn't too busy but my brother is busy with soccer so it was good that I got to spend time with them.
This class is the least of my worries, since it is half online I feel like I can get caught up a lot faster. I really like talking about my childhood, because I had a great experiences and I love to share them. I am having a little trouble writing about a childhood experience that changed me and what I learned from because I can't think of anything that really changed me except for something that happened when i was in 6th grade but that wouldn't fit in with what we are talking about since it is not in Jr high or high school. I will figure something out though.
